Why writing about welding?
I am a certified international welding engineer (IWE) who worked on different welding projects for TIG, MIG, MAG, and Resistance Spot welding. Since 2016 as a Process Development Engineer for Laser and TIG welding processes in the aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul industry.
I studied Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng.) and Product Development (M.Eng.) in Aachen, Germany. Both my Bachelor’s and my Master’s thesis have been in the field of welding for the joining technology institute at the University of Applied Science in Aachen (website).
Working with real-life welding problems day in and day out made me realize a bit of a gap between theoretical and practical knowledge. To address some of the welding questions I encountered or frequently got asked, I started to gather some of the relevant information in this blog.
It has become a bit of a pet project, as I want to learn more about the details about welding. I sincerely hope it will help you improve your welding results as much as it improves mine.
